The little white dress…Isn’t it just lovely!?
In honor of the impending summer season, I thought i’d do a post on the LWD which seems to be all the rage these days. Long, short, maxi, mini, lace, simple cotton, even embroidery–the varieties in what seems like should be a boring dress becomes a fashion statement in itself!
I have always loved white, during the summertime even when I can’t seem to keep food away from it with accidents (coffee spills, ketchup from hotdogs, gravy–you name it) controllable or not I still love the summer white dress. The one that’s always elusive is the wrap dress like the above that Julianne Hough is wearing, but I’ve found variations along the way! If you are looking for a nice LWD but not wanting to drop your whole summer wardrobe budget on just one thing, then I have the alternatives for you!
This first alternative is slightly on the pricier side, but works dressed down with gladiator sandals or with heels for a nice party! It’s French Connection’s Pollen party Dress at regular $198 (CDN) Since it is almost summertime, you are in luck because FCUK has a sale going on and this is one of those sale items fresh off the rack at $130! Good price, yea?
Now if you’re more of a high-low price point kinda gal like me and don’t want to spend so much on a seasonal dress, this one below is for you! It’s $29.80 from Forever 21! I love this shift dress, embroidery all over with and underlay on the body with only the sleeves showing through. It can be a multi-tasker going from a summer work shift dress to an after-work bbq or even a patio happy hour!
My last one is not really a white dress, but a white lace skirt. If you are like me and want to have more bang for your buck, it’s always good to keep skirts in mind. You can still create a LWD look by wearing both a lace top and bottom, but at the same time, switch it to different tops like below to give versatility! I actually have this skirt and plan to get my wear’s worth on the $128 (CDN) from Marciano. I actually got a bit of a discount because I used my reward on it! Use it with wedge sandals for a dressed up look or even with sandals for a dressed down about town look! The sandals on this photo are the Tory Burch macy espadrilles.
I hope that I was able to give you some inspiration into finding your own version of the perfect Little White Dress! It’s great to take cues from the celebrities, but it’s even better to use them as a jumping off point and then making the trend your own!
