Halloween costumes: do you buy or diy?

Alas, it’s the week before halloween and everyone at my work is in a tizzy about what they are going to be.  Laughter and buzz is in the air as people talk about what they are going to be.  I’ve heard everything from a diy Missy Elliot costume to dressing up as another co-worker.

last year's costume, Mary Poppins! Only the hat was the DIY.

One thing’s for sure, some will spend lots of money on this once a year novelty-filled day.  I can get with the christmas bandwagon as it lasts for at least a couple of months to a month depending on how early to start to celebrate and dip into your nog stash lol.  I can’t bare to spend lots of money on costumes though, it’s just never been my thing.  I’ll dress up to get into the spirit, i just can’t drop money on it.  There is also something fun about trying to be as creative and spending the least amount of money doing it.

This year, i’ve been leaning towards spending no money if i can help it, but a small amount if needed.  I spent less than $10 last year and looking to spend way less this year.

So with that in mind, any suggestions on this year’s costume?
